Q2 2020 Reflection

Wow today not only marks my birthday, but half mark for 2020. I know that this year has not been easy for most of us, including me. It seems remiss to not acknowledge the most profound and urgent issue that has been highlighted this quarter is the systematic inequality and injustice in our country, especially the police system. Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice, Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Philando Castile(many more); it is immensely important to say their names and stand up to be Anti-racist and educate ourselves. I will be partnering with political and racial justice movements long term to help tell their stories, please reach out to me if you know of any orgs in NYC that need a photographer.

This quarter my photography was mainly dedicated to New York as I stayed in the city for the whole virus shutdown. I focused on over exposure, a tool not usually used in editing or filming. This is because I feel like in these times; you are more exposed to the obvious virus, what you stand for, who your real friends are, and if you are truly happy when you take away all the external things we pursue. The color I highlighted was green. From natural to neon green, I think its an empowering color which means go and moving forward. Summer has not looked like what we wanted it to, and no one knows how fall and winter will be, but I think we are all ready for the green light to pursue things that are important to us, in the New Normal. The gallery is meant to be clicked through to open up more groups of photos on the main page, below is just the cover photos. As always, I am open to feedback and your general thoughts for the year, feel free to reach out!

Stay safe out there and thanks for reading!
